The stars of High School Musical are looking to expand their resumes beyond cheesy Disney fare. Zac Efron has signed on to film a movie called “Seventeen.” Ashley Tisdale is on board for “They Came From Upstairs.”

And now we hear that Vanessa Hudgens is set to act in the feature “Will.”

It begins to shoot in February in Austin, Texas and is based around a battle of the bands at a high school.

Hudgens will be portraying the role of Sam, a 15-year old outcast who dresses in black jeans and a t-shirt, with hair strategically hiding her face from the world.

This loner is often seen with a book in hand, until she strikes up a romance with the movie’s title character.

But, don’t worry, Vanessa and company are still signed on to make High School Musical 3. It’ll be the first flick in the franchise to be released in theaters.

Sticking by her man, as he did for her during her nude photo debacle, Vanessa Hudgens shot down a report in Star magazine claiming that her co star beau Zac Efron doesn’t shower.

The 19-year-old High School Musical singer/actress recently told Newsweek: “He showers! He showers! Believe me, he does. Whoever came up with that is completely idiotic.”

“Every day?” the interviewer asked.

“Yes! Of course,” Vanessa replied. “That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard!”

Hudgens spoke to Newsweek from San Francisco, as part of HSM3 takes place at Stanford University, revealing: “I get accepted.”

But don’t expect HSM: The College Years. “Not for us,” the Disney starlet tells. “We’re pretty much done, I think.”

Hudgens – who is also planning a tour for her new album, Identified – said she hopes to “relax for a minute” after that. ”Be able to breathe, feel life, buy a house, kind of get situated,” she said of her post HSM plans.

As for her relationship with Efron, Hudgens says: “It might hurt the relationship. That’s something I have to myself.”
