Born in San Luis Obispo, California, and raised nearby in Arroyo Grande, Zac Efron took his first step toward acting at the age of 11 when his parents took note of his singing ability. Singing lessons soon led to an appearance in the production of "Gypsy" that ran 90 performances and he was hooked. After appearing on-stage in "Peter Pan," "Auntie Mame", "Little Shop of Horrors" and "The Music Man", guest parts quickly followed on television series, including "Firefly" (2002), "ER" (1994), and "The Guardian" (2001). After guest-starring in several episodes of "Summerland" (2004), he joined the regular cast as girl-crazy Cameron Bale. Efron also starred in several pilots such as "The Big, Wide World of Carl Laemke" and "Triple Play." He also recently starred as an autistic child in the television movie Miracle Run (2004) (TV), alongside Mary-Louise Parker and Aidan Quinn.

Efron graduated Arroyo Grande High School in June 2006. Efron's favorite sports conține golf, skiing, rock climbing, and snowboarding. He recently added surfing after spending days on the beach for "Summerland." He plays the piano at home, and is currently teaching himself to play the guitar. He's also currently fixing up two cars in his spare time, a Delorean and '65 Mustang convertible, both treasured hand-me-downs from his even-more-treasured grandfather. Efron lives at home with his parents and his younger brother Dylan. They have two highly affectionate Australian Shepherds, Dreamer and Puppy, and a very independent Siamese cat named Simon.

Zac Efron: Background: Zac Efron was born and raised in California. His parents are David Efron and Starla Baskett. He has a younger brother named Dylan. The family has two Australian Shepherds and a Siamese cat. Zac's full name is Zachary David Alexander Efron.
Zac Efron: Career: Zac's singing talents were discovered at age 11 and he began to work in local musicals including Gypsy, Peter Pan and more. His TV credits began in 2002 when he was 12 or 13. He had several guest appearances until he joined the cast of Summerland in 2005 as Cameron Bale. In Summerland, he worked alongside several other young singers/actors including Jesse McCartney and Sara Paxton.
Zac Efron: High School Musical: In 2005, High School Musical was filmed. It starred Zac and Vanessa Anne Hudgens as Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez. In a Grease-inspired storyline, the teens fought to win the leads in their own High School Musical against many odds. The movie became a huge success and the soundtrack ruled the charts for much of 2006. Zac and the others have reportedly committed to High School Musical 2 which should emerge in 2007.
Zac Efron: Controversy: We know that Zac is a singer because of his success in several musical stage productions. However, Drew Seeley was credited for the Troy Bolton vocals on both the movie and the soundtrack. The stories vary and I haven't seen any clear answers.
The possibilities are:
Zac sang most of the music and Drew filled in on the high parts. (This seems unlikely to me due to the credits.)
Zac was too busy with acting and basketball and dance so Drew did most of the singing.
Zac has stated elsewhere that the voices were 'fused together' in some places. (I don't get it.)
Zac Efron: Gold Records: I can't find the source, but I believe that I had heard/read that Zac was first credited with the Gold status of all of Troy's HSM songs but that they were later credited to Drew Seeley. I have seen actual press releases claiming Drew's Gold status for several of the HSM songs.
Honestly, I'd like to know the real truth but it really doesn't minimize the talent of either of them.

Zac Efron: Summary: Zac has some great acting ability and he's very nice looking. His eyes are amazing. He is a talented dancer and his singing will doubtlessly be discovered at some future point. He has a promising career to look forward to.
